Coolant Line Repair

THE ISSUE: On a limited number of MODEs, the coolant lines for the Rixen heating system could potentially touch the drive shaft, transfer case, or both.

INSPECT FIRST, FIX IF NEEDED: We've got two documents for you to check out:

  • Doc #1: Explains how to inspect the coolant lines and secure them if there is no damage to the hoses. If you are not 100% comfortable doing this inspection yourself, this can be done at a dealer at no cost to you.

  • Doc #2: Explains how to replace the hoses, if damaged. Should this be the case, this will be done at a dealership at no cost to you.

If everything looks good after doing the steps in Doc #1, you don't need to read Doc #2.

How much can I tow?

The Sprinter is rated to tow a maximum load of 5,000 lbs. The Transit is rated to tow a maximum of 4,100 lbs. Towing capacity may be less than the hitch rating based on the weight of your loaded vehicle.

Towing will affect vehicle handling, durability, and fuel economy. Exceeding any of the listed Gross Weight Ratings will result in unacceptable overall vehicle performance and, potentially, danger.

When towing, do not exceed the GVWR, the rear axle GAWR, or the chassis GCWR by the combined loaded weight of the MODE and the towed item.

Actual towing capacity depends on particular loading and towing circumstances, including GVWR, GAWR, GCWR, and adequate trailer brakes.
Refer to your vehicle’s Operating Instructions for further towing information.
