The GXV HILT Chronicles goes behind the curtain at Storyteller Overland’s headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, as the team overcomes the complexities of bringing a first-of-its kind adventure truck to market. In this multi-part series, the engineering, design and production teams have approximately one year before the vehicle’s launch date, and they face challenges in measurements, weather, and bringing a 3D model to life. As the project rolls closer to completion, the Storyteller Overland team grows more and more excited as they witness a market-shattering adventure vehicle come to fruition.

We spent countless hours developing a special zero torsion subframe system that allows independent movement of the capsule from the chassis. This reduces overall stress to the capsule and improves off-road traction.

Each HILT capsule is insulated with up to 2” of closed cell foam, making it as comfy and efficient as possible in freezing and soaring temperatures.

Extreme off-roading requires an extreme 360-degree exterior lighting package. In addition to 4 high-powered bumper mounted LEDs, the HILT’s front light bar features five 8-inch KC HiLiTES® and there are also eight 10-inch KC HiLiTES® perimeter light bars mounted around the exterior. 

So hit the trails all night long — light won’t be an issue, we promise.

Your HILT will have a specially tuned hydraulic Smart Suspension System from LiquidSpring®. This system evaluates speed, steering, braking, and road inputs 1,000 times per second and adjusts for extremes, including automatic ride height adjustment with raising and kneeling capabilities for maximum maneuverability.

So whether you’re off-road or driving through city streets, this system will deliver the smoothest ride possible.

We’re keeping our reputation for building vehicles that can power any adventure. The HILT comes with a 16.8 kilowatt-hour M-Power System (powered by Lithionics) with two 3000-watt, heavy-duty, high-efficiency inverters. And you can easily manage all your lights and temperature controls with your Mission Control touch screen. 

1325 watts of solar panels on the roof of your HILT means you can give your battery life a significant boost during the day. Say goodbye to plugs and hookups and just enjoy going off-grid for a while.

Your roomy wet bath has 6 feet and 5 inches of standing room. With 120 gallons of freshwater on-board, you can splurge on multiple long, hot showers during your off-grid trip.

The dinette is your space for eating delicious home-cooked meals, playing card games with family and friends, and lounging after a day filled with adventures. Or maybe your dog will claim this comfortable seating for themselves.

The dinette comfortably seats four to five adults. It also very quickly converts into a queen sleep surface after you stow away the table and leg.

The loft RV queen bed has 3.7 cubic feet of total bin storage, and you’ll stay connected with 12-volt USBs, 110-volt outlets and wireless charging stations next to the mattress.
